An exciting start for the 2024 Honda Pilipinas Dream Cup (HPDC)

HPI has started to develop young riders in Tarlac Circuit Hill.

 

Tarlac, Philippines – April 27-28, 2024 – Honda Philippines, Inc.  starts the racing season with the 2024 Honda Pilipinas Dream Cup attended by 8 aspiring young riders in Tarlac Circuit Hill. The program aims to develop and give opportunity to the riders whose goal is to be an international rider someday.

April 27 - Warm-up, Practice and Qualifying

Riders line up at the entrance of the pit area lane despite the scorching heat being experienced during the warm-up, practice, and qualifying race. They started with the rider’s briefing inside the paddocks from the local coach Charles Nolasco, a former PSBK (Philippine Superbike) rider as he gave instructions and basic riding tips. The riders started to ride continued until practice sessions to familiarize the racetracks technical route using the CBR150R modified race bikes.

 

It was a challenging afternoon in Tarlac Circuit Hill due to the very hot temperature nowadays. The young riders start and begins entering the racetrack giving them 15 mins. to prove themselves, to get a good grid position in the Qualifying rounds. The audience also feels the excitement when #9 Kenzo Abadilla with his best lap in Lap 5 at 1:13.014, followed by #2 Yuri Olayvar at 1:13.368 with 0.354 difference from Kenzo, the 3rd placing rider #1 Nathan Galang at 1:13.422 and with 0.408 interval from Abadilla.

April 28 - Race 1 and Race 2

After the qualifying round on the first day, the coach gives them a simple warm-up exercise before race and the riders are all eager to compete to show more improvements in their riding skills in Race 1 for 15 laps and Race 2 for 12 laps of racing under the tough hot weather condition in Tarlac. The 8 young riders were also being tested for their endurance and consistency in their result in riding.

#9 Kenzo Abadilla dominates the race winning both Race 1 and Race 2 of the first round, while 2nd Place winner #2 Yuri Olayvar is a consistent podium finisher for both races. The race competition excites the audience as the result for 3rd Place podium finishers are different in 2 Races. #1 Nathan Galang was able to get in the podium after competing with rider #4 Vash Aguilar in Race 1 while #7 Franz Juric dela Cruz gives a thrilling push and won 3rd Place in Race 2 after Nathan slides in Lap 7.
