Sara Duterte walks-the-talk by supporting Honda’s Road Safety Advocacy

APRIL 30, 2018

Sucat, Parañaque—April 30, 2018—Daughter of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, better known as Inday Sara to Davaoeños, begins her Safety Riding training at the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) in Sucat, Paranaque as part of her support to Honda’s Road Safety Advocacy.

A lawyer by profession and a certified motorcycle lover and rider as influenced by her father, Mayor Duterte is known to go around her hometown of Davao on her Honda XR200. She is also an avid rider of Big Bike models. Despite her current skill set, Mayor Duterte still opted to enrol in HSDC to learn from its extensive courses that focus on safety.

During the recently held 24th National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines (NFMCP) convention, Mayor Sara’s father President Duterte called on the attending motorists to help in promoting riding safety and road discipline.

“I ask you to promote road safety and observing traffic rules and wearing proper protection,” said the president during his speech, in response to the percentage of road accidents caused by human errors related to inadequate skills and lack of a proper safety mindset, which is at 80%. This urges him to want mandatory safety riding training for motorists.

This is what HSDC wants to address with its several courses focusing on safety practices for both 2-Wheel and 4-Wheel vehicles.

Located at km 17 East Service Road, Sucat, Paranaque, the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) is the largest and only training facility for both motorcycles and automobiles in the Philippines, employing safety instructors that received world-class training. Courses include informative classroom sessions that tackle safety attitudes and practices, while actual riding and driving sessions are held at the world-class circuit that simulates actual road situations – from intersections, to roundabouts, S-courses, emergency breaking, and more.

The establishment of the facility is part of Honda’s obligation to contribute to helping reduce accidents through the synergy of the Honda group of companies, in partnership with society, by introducing the Road Safety for Our Family campaign. Ultimately, Honda’s goal is to build a community of safe road users, so everyone can safely feel the joy of mobility.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio shares Honda’s vision for road safety for every Filipino, so with her enrollment in HSDC, she advocates safety not only in words but also in practice.
