Honda One Make Race VisMin Series: Leg 4

Ilo Ilo City. As the city celebrates its annual Dinagyang Festival, one of the country’s most jovial event, so did they also experience the 1st ever circuit racing in the area, The Honda One Make Race VisMin Series – IloIlo Leg 4 last January 23, 2010.
Held in Ilo Ilo Fish Port Complex, the event was highly welcomed and joyously participated by our local dealers namely: Du Ek Sam, Inc., Solid Motorcycle Distributors Inc., Powercycle Inc., and Motortrade Topline Inc.
Excitement filled the area as participants tested the race track as early as 7:30 am. A total of 38 riders joined with riders from Cebu and Davao challenging the neophyte in circuit racing participants of Ilo Ilo.
The event formally opened at 10:30 am starting with riders briefing led by Mr. Jong Uy of 5th Gear Motorsports, our partner organizer, followed by the opening message from HPI’s OIC of Cebu Mr. Macky Sacmar and balloon and streamer releasing participated by the Managers of our dealers in the area.
As the green light marks go, so does the riders did and soon found out that the seasoned Cebu and Davao riders were too much for the locals, nearly sweeping most of the podium finishes.
Taking the 100-110cc category both on Superstock and Novice Category, Keken Cabahug of Motorworld Racing/Team Cyrus from Cebu easily claimed top prize using his New and reliable Wave Dash. On the other hand, Davao’s Ernie Daguio of Powercycle both claimed the 125 Superstock and Novice Category. While Mark Capoy of Motorworld Racing/Skut Garage was King of the All Honda Beat Class.
Race was considered to be a success as race fans and spectators were estimated to be at 1000 despite in unison with the highly celebrated Festival. Assisting in the event is Phil. Bikers Club of IloIlo which supported the event with close to 300 of their members in attendance. We also acknowledge the support of our dealer, Honda Motorworld, for eagerly patronizing and supporting our races by creating their own Racing Team and sending them wherever our races is held.
At the end, Iloilo racers were challenged and committed to do better the next time circuit racing will be held in their turf and will probably join the Bacolod Leg of Honda One Make Race VisMin Series.
