Honda Announces Results of 5th Mechanic Skills Olympics National Finals

Being the second and also the last part of the quest for the two mechanics who will represent HPI in this year’s international competition, the Asia and Oceania Mechanic Skills Contest in October 2007, 16 distinguished men competed against each other in a 4-Part Examination – Theory, Electrical, Measurement and Practical Tests. The 16 finalists were mechanics who topped the Qualifying Examinations conducted last June 24, 2007 in nine (9) different locations nationwide such as Dagupan City, Pampanga and Calamba for Luzon, Tacloban City, Cebu City and Iloilo for Visayas and Pagadian City, Cagayan de Oro and Davao City for Mindanao. This Regional Eliminations was also participated in by 361 mechanics of the 232 dealer branches from all over the country.
Reigning supreme over their colleagues are the winners of this year’s 5th Mechanic Skills Olympics. The 2nd Runner-Up is Mr. Loreto Taronas from Du Ek Sam Iloilo. Although a rookie in terms of competing on the national level, Taronas proved that he is a force the others must watch out for. A couple of points above him is the 1st Runner-Up from Powercycle Agdao, Mr. Renante Ramiso. Ramiso was also a placer in the 4th MSO and an automatic qualifier in this year’s Finals. And the 5th Mechanic Skills Olympics Champion, the mechanic who rose to the challenges of the competition, is none other than Mr. Mitzheval Condino from Powercycle Gen. Trias, Cavite. Condino, although only 29 years old, went into the competition with 10 years of mechanic experience tucked under his belt. Also a finalist from last year’s MSO, Condino competed with his colleagues tediously, unfazed by the mind screwing challenges prepared for them. This year’s Champion brought home a total of Php 80,000.00 worth of prizes including a brand new Honda Bravo Motorcycle.
Mitzheval Condino will be joined by last year’s champion, Mr. Blas Dimaano from Star Honda Calamba, in preparing for the Asia and Oceania Mechanic Skills Contest scheduled for October 22, 2007 to be hosted by Honda Philippines Inc. and attended by ten other countries from the Asia and Oceania Region. With intense training, passionate dedication, excellent workmanship and our home court advantage, HPI is hopeful about winning that much coveted title which has been very elusive for the past two years that we have participated in this international event. But until that moment comes, the winners of this year’s 5th Mechanic Skills Olympics shall bask in the elation of their victory. Service Department
