E10 Gasoline
Honda Motorcycles Compatibility with E10 Gasoline
In 2007, Philippine Government passed the Biofuels law prescribing the mandatory use of biofuels. The Biofuels law, which became effective in the same year, provides, among others, for the gradual introduction of ethanol-blended gasoline in the market within four years, initially with 5% ethanol blend until 2009 to 10%ethanol blend by 2011 should Government find the increase in ethanol blend feasible. But moving ahead of the schedule, oil companies made the 10% ethanol blend available in the market in May 2009.
With the growing number of inquiries, Honda Philippines, Inc. ("HPI," for brevity) hereby provides guidance to answer queries and concerns from valued customers regarding the use of E10 on their motorcycle units.
HPI is pleased to inform its valued customers that E10 may be used for motorcycles that have been assembled by HPI starting 1990. Please note however that the ethanol content of any ethanol blended gasoline to be used must not exceed ten percent (10%). Motorcycle users are advised to try other brands of E10 if they notice any undesirable operating symptoms on their motorcycles. Motorcycle users may refer to their owner's manuals for other details regarding this matter.
HPI would like to take this opportunity to remind its valued customers that performance problems can occur for a variety of reasons, and tracing performance problems to a specific cause like E10 use can be difficult, and often impossible. Thus, HPI advises the motoring public to use only E10 gasoline from reputable gasoline stations that comply with PNS/DOE QS 008:2006 E-gasoline specifications.
HPI also assures its valued customers that the warranty coverage of Honda motorcycles fueled with "E10" that are still under warranty period remains VALID, provided that all conditions stipulated in the owner's manual are conformed with accordingly."
